Disneyland 2013

The day after we were accepted to Roseman, Trevor was invited for an interview at USC. Even though he had already been accepted, he still thought it would be a good idea to go interview because USC is a really hard school to get into, and just the fact that he got an interview was pretty cool. The USC dental school has been around for over 130 years so it is a really good school, they really know how to produce good dentists. Also, he really likes California and it would be fun to live there. So since we were going down for the interview, we decided to spend a day at Disneyland too!
Disneyland was so much fun! We woke up really early that morning and got to the park about 45 minutes before it even opened. We were there ALL DAY LONG! From 8:15 in the morning till 10:00 at night. If we were able to stay in the park longer I think we would've! We started the day out right, going on Indian Jones and ended it with Its a Small World. We did so many fun rides, everything we wanted to and some new ones too! Our favorites are of course Indian Jones, Pirates of the Caribbean (we did that twice, I could ride that one all day long), Radiator Springs Racers which was new for us, and we also watched the Aladdin show which I hadn't ever seen so it was really fun.
My family and Trevor's family were also in Disneyland, so it was fun to go on rides with them and spend time with them.
This was on Pirates of the Caribbean
Trevor is the sweetest husband ever! He never stops surprising me. While we were on the ride Pirates of the Caribbean, we were talking with my family about how fun it would be to eat at the Blue Bayou because neither me nor my family had done that before. Then Trevor says, oh well good thing I got us a reservation for 2:00 today! I didn't even believe him! It was such a fun surprise. He had to call days in advance to get a reservation there. I love how he is always thinking of ways to surprise me. We got the Monte Cristo and it was the most delicious food I have ever tasted.
 Splash mountain
Mint Julep! Such a yummy drink my family introduced us to. I'm hooked
 Getting ready for Star Tours

 I love this place!
I couldn't even feel my feet at the end of the day from being there for 14 hours, but it was totally worth it!! Such a great trip

The Best Day Ever

The day Trevor and I have been ever so patiently waiting and looking forward to for over 2 years is finally here!!
TREVOR HAS BEEN ACCEPTED TO ROSEMAN DENTAL SCHOOL!

Saying those words now, still doesn't seem real! I remember months ago, even years ago thinking about how great it would feel to finally have this acceptance, and it is even better than I thought. Trevor has worked so extremely hard for this. He deserves it more than anyone, and I am so glad that his hard work is finally starting to pay off. I feel so blessed to be his wife because I feel like I know better than anyone, and got to see first-hand just how hard he has worked for this and how much time and effort he has put into this. It definitely was not easy. Trevor has spent countless nights staying up until morning studying and focusing so much on his school work. That is one of the first things I fell in love with about Trevor. He always has a plan, and many times two or three back up plans, and he works on that goal until it is accomplished no matter what it takes. I am just so overwhelmed with gratitude for my sweet husband, and my Heavenly Father for this great blessing we have. I can definitely see how we have been blessed throughout this journey so far, and I know that Heavenly Father is taking care of us and has a plan for us.
So here's how it all went down: Trevor applied to 15 dental schools in June of last year. That is when the waiting game first started off. Then we waited and waited 3 long months without any word from a dental school. I still remember when Trevor texted me at the end of September and told me he got an interview at UNLV. I just started crying, I was at work but I just couldn't hold it back. I was so happy for him, because he needed that to show him that his hard work is being noticed. So we practiced almost everyday, going through interview questions and getting ready for November. Then on November 16, 2012, Trevor had his interview. We waited until December 3 and found out we would be considered for the second round of acceptances which wasn't until March. At this point we kind of thought that UNLV would be our only option for dental school, which we were very grateful for, but only having one school isn't the best of odds. So we started waiting again. Trevor was even making back up plans to start a masters program in case we didn't get accepted, which isn't even necessary, that is just how much of a hard worker Trevor is. Then in February, I got another text from Trevor saying he got an interview at Roseman. I couldn't believe it! This was just what we needed, so we headed up to South Jordan on Valentine's Day and I didn't even care that it wasn't the norm for Valentine's Day and not very romantic just traveling, I was too excited about the interview to even notice. After his interview, Trevor said that he felt like it went well, but that we would probably be placed on an alternate list just because it was kind of late in the year for acceptances. Then just a few short weeks later we got this great news! I am just so so proud of Trevor, he is accomplishing his greatest dreams. We couldn't even sleep last night, we just stayed up talking about all of our plans that we can finally start on now that we know. I am just so excited for what the next four years hold for us. I know that with Trevor as my husband, we will be able to accomplish anything that comes our way.
we've been waiting so long to drink that celebration sparkling cider!

Best Husband

He is just the cutest!
I just LOVE Trevor! I definitely knew before I married him that I was getting the best, but I can just see it more and more everyday. I am so grateful for everything that he does for me. We went to St. George this past weekend to watch my cousins, Lydia and McKay. We were there for four days with them, and Trevor didn't seem the slightest bit tired or over it (which I definitely was a couple of days), despite all of the things we did. Besides watching the cousins, Trevor helped my grandpa all day Saturday set up his Halloween decorations outside. To say my grandpa goes overboard with decorating the outside of his house would be an understatement. I would even dare say he tops Clark Griswold at Christmas time. On the other days he would help my grandma dust her house, clean up the kid's rooms, do the dishes, and play with the kids. He didn't complain a single time. When we got home, I thought he would be tired from the weekend (I sure was), but he just jumped right into doing dishes and cleaning up our own house. He is seriously the best, for much more than what I have described here. I am so lucky to have Trevor as my husband and I am so grateful to see him in times like these, because it helps me to never take him for granted.

1 year Anniversary!

This past Sunday, Trevor and I had our 1st Anniversary! It was such a fun day. Since it was on a Sunday, we decided to do a couple of fun things on Saturday, so we went out for the night. Trevor is awesome and got 4th row tickets to Les Miserables. I absolutely LOVE that play, so I was thrilled when he told me about the tickets. We went out to eat at Pastry Pub (our place) before the show, and got our classic treat: chocolate confusion cake. It was such a fun night, and after the show we both had Les Mis songs stuck in our head for the rest of the night. Sunday was so fun, because I just got to spend all day with Trevor. He has been so busy lately with school, and applying to dental school, so I feel like my Trevor time has been limited. We had a yummy breakfast together (swedish pancakes) and then went to church. Church was so fun because Trevor got to teach my primary class with me! The kids were so excited it was our anniversary, and that Trevor got to make a guest appearance (he is the Elder's Quorum 2nd counselor so he doesn't get to teach with me very often). After church, Trevor made the most amazing dinner! I never realized what an amazing cook he was until we got married! He made us shrimp scampi, and a very yummy salad with all the works (I love salad!), and then we had german (of course) chocolate cake for dessert! Such a fun meal. After dinner, Trevor had an Elder's Quorum meeting that I wasn't exactly thrilled about, but agreed to let him go for a bit. Before he left he told me he had a surprise. Ten seconds later I hear our wedding song playing, so I ran to find him. He had roses for me with my favorite dark chocolate. We danced to our song, and of course it made me cry! Then Trevor dashed off to his meeting. To my surprise, he came home 5 minutes later and told me his President told him he could leave! So we spent the rest of our night watching our wedding video, going through our wedding box, and remembering the great day our wedding day was and all of the fun memories we have had since. It was the perfect day! I am so grateful Trevor is my husband! I know without a doubt that I was meant to meet him in our cute chemistry class, and then a year later marry him. He is so perfect for me, I just feel so lucky! He is such a great example to me. He is the nicest person to everyone he meets, and is always looking for ways to help others. Something that I love about Trevor is that he never talks badly about anyone (even mean people) ever! It is so refreshing to not have any gossip in our home, and such a blessing. Looking back on our past year being married, and our dating year, I just realize that I have been in a constant state of HAPPY. Of course there have been some not so perfect days, but when it all comes down to it, I know that I have Trevor for eternity and I can't help but happily smile and go about my day.

Shout-Out to Mom

This past week I've been feeling like I've had a small dose of mommy-mode. I got to have my cute little brother and sister stay with me this past weekend, and then I got to babysit my good friend Kristie's cute little boy for a couple of days. After all of this, it has really made me appreciate my mom. Of course I have always appreciated her, but now I got a little glimpse of what she does on a day to day basis. I never imagined that I would use a precious nap time to get dishes and laundry done!
My mom is seriously the best mom in the world. One of the things I love that she did for me when I was little is that she taught me the importance of writing in a journal. I got my first journal when I turned 6 years old and I wrote in it everyday. I'm so grateful I have those journals now! Of course most of them are hilarious little entries of non-importance that I won't take the time to share, but I came across this little gem that I didn't want to forget.
11/23/1998
It's kind of hard to read so here's what it says:
I love to play. Sumtimes I play and I do not want to klenop my room and my mom has to klenop. She dosint like to but she dos it and it was kas she loves me.
I may not have been the brightest child in the world (klenop-"clean up" haha), but I sure knew that my mom loved me! Love you mom!

I just need to have a moment

Sometimes when you get braces and you look like you're twelve, you just need to watch inspirational videos that make you cry it out, and feel blessed for everything that you have in your life.
*make sure you put it on full screen to get the full effect
This one is so cute, I seriously cry every time I watch it.

Kanarra Falls

It was so fun to spend time with Josh and Megan! They get married so soon, I am so excited for them!
Trevor and I went and enjoyed the nice weather at Kanarra Falls this weekend with our friends Josh and Megan! It was such a fun hike and so so pretty! It definitely turned out to be a little longer, and more treacherous than I was expecting, but that made it all the more fun! That little makeshift log ladder gave my heart a little scare. I had no idea that this fun little place existed, but I'm so glad I do now, I would definitely do it again!

Trevor's Birthday!

My mom is so awesome and always made my (and my sibling's) birthday extra special. She always decorates the house up, and of course on your birthday you always wake up to your room toilet papered from the toilet paper fairy, so I had to keep these traditions alive for Trevor's birthday!
I am so grateful I got to spend Trevor's birthday with him this year! He is SO amazing, I just can't say it enough. I can't even begin to tell how much I lucked out by marrying this guy. He treats me so amazing, I couldn't ask for anything more. He is the hardest worker I have ever met, and has the sweetest heart. I don't think he could be mean to anyone ever, even if he tried. He has the most amazing personality! You will never ever see Trev let a bad day get him down, he is always so upbeat and positive, it is such a blessing in our home. I love his strong testimony and how he honors his priesthood. Not only am I so blessed, but our kids will be too to have such an amazing example as their dad. Before I met Trevor I had this little checklist that I made as a beehive in young womens of what I expected my future husband to be like, and let me tell you I stuck to that. When I met Trevor, he blew that list completely out of the water. He was everything and more that I wanted my husband to be, and I sure knew pretty quick that he was the one I was looking for.
Happy 23rd birthday Trevor!! I love you so much!!

Father's Day

I love my dad so much! He has always been one of my best friends and we have the best relationship. It is always fun to be able to spend time with him because we have the same humor, and so we are constantly cracking each other up. He is such a great example to me. I am so blessed!

Best Brother Ever

K I seriously have the cutest brother in the whole world! In his 3rd grade class this last year he wrote a story about Trevor that I had to make sure I wrote down. He looks up to Trevor so much and I'm so grateful I married someone amazing so that andrew can have a good example of an older brother. So here is his story.
Title: My Brtoher-in-law Trevor
My brother-in-law Trevor is fun to play with. We had a snowball fight. I'm glad he's my brother cause I never had one and it's fun to have one. It's funny once he talked in German because he went to Germany on his mission. I ask him if he can teach me some German. Trevor and my dad go camping and its fun cause we go on adventures and tell funny stories. My brother Trevor is the best brother I ever had.

Makes my heart melt. He is always saying the cutest things to me like, "Carlee, now that you're done with college, does that mean you can move back home?" (I moved away so that I could go to college, so obviously now that I'm done it should mean that I can move back home). He's always so thoughtful and just awhile ago he asked my dad if we could buy my dog a badger so that he could have a friend (what on earth would we do with a badger, and where the heck do you buy one?) He just has the most tender heart and is always so fun, I'm just so grateful I have him as my little brother!

DAT time!

Dear family and friends,
Trevor will be taking the DAT (dental admissions test) on May 29th, so in about a week and a couple days. For those of you who don't know what the DAT is, it is the big test students have to take to be considered for acceptance into dental school. This isn't just any test either, it is a 5 hour grueling test of math, crazy organic chemistry, general chemistry, biology, perceptual ability, and reading comprehension. Basically it is the hardest test in the world. Trevor is the most amazing person ever and has been working SO extremely hard studying for this test. Over the past few months I thought it would be fun to take a sneak picture every time he studied for the test, not realizing that I would have a bazillion pictures by the time he took the test (and towards the end he started to notice what I was doing, so he would pull a little smirk in the picture) so I just wanted to post a few. I can't even begin to express how grateful I am for this guy! I don't know how he does it but somehow he manages to study on car trips, vacations, at people's houses, during american idol, and especially at home with me probably bugging him the whole time. He has the most amazing determination and he is such a hard worker. He has given up so much time, a fun summer, endless hours of sleep (seriously, he stays up till like 4 in the morning studying, I don't know many other people who could do that) to give us an awesome future. And somehow in between all of his crazy hours of studying he still makes time for me and makes me feel so important. He never once thinks of himself. I just love him so much!! I know he is going to do so great on the test because he is just so smart and is working so hard, he definitely deserves it. Please keep him in your prayers this week!

Campers Beware!

Trevor and I decided to try again at the whole "camping thing" (click if you want a laugh). So we went camping at Quail Lake over the weekend. Everything went great this time, except that I think we were a little too  prepared this time. We got there at about three o'clock, which in St. George language means 97 degrees. Right when we got out of the car I wanted to start setting up camp, Trevor was trying to be a trooper but I think at least ten times I heard him say, "It's just really hot." So I decided that if I wanted my husband to survive this camping trip we'd better take a pit stop. We stayed at my air-conditioned parents house until Trevor decided it was safe enough to step outside which was about 8:30, and set up our camp.
There were only a few minor set backs, the heat being one of them, and also I thought a bear was attacking our tent all night. I'm not crazy. After Trevor gave me a geography lesson and reassured me for about an hour that there is no way on earth a bear could live, or even want to live in Quail Lake, everything else went smoothly.

Another minor set back.. We got a two man tent. Which ended up being a two year old tent, or maybe a dog tent, or maybe it was a sleeping bag we're not really sure.. so we borrowed one from my parents.

*working tent? check.
*remembered firewood? check.

We decided to stay long enough for breakfast this time too.

Happy Mother's Day!

Trevor and I were blessed with the most amazing moms ever. They are such wonderful examples to us and are definitely the best women in the world. They have the best personalities and are always happy. My mom has always been there for me and now my mother-in-law is exactly the same. I couldn't ask for anything more.
I hope I can be just like them someday.
